Khalifa bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan is the President of the UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi. He succeeded to the position of Emir of Abu Dhabi on the moment of his father's death, and he became President of the UAE the next day, 3 November 2004, taking rule over from his father Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. He had effectively been acting president earlier, since his father was in ill health. Khalifa is also chairman of Abu Dhabi Investment Authority. Al Nahayan family is believed to have a fortune of $150 billion collectively as a family. He was a personal friend of former Turkmen President, Saparmurat Niyazov, in which they helped build an orphanage center just outside Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan.

Mansour bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan is the deputy prime minister of the United Arab Emirates, minister of presidential affairs and member of the ruling family of Abu Dhabi. He is the half brother of the current president of UAE, Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. He is also the chairman of the ministerial council for services, the Emirates investment authority and the Emirates pacing authority. He sits on the Supreme Petroleum Council and the boards of numerous investment companies including the International Petroleum Investment Company and the Abu Dhabi Investment Council. Mansour also owns stakes in a number of business ventures, including Virgin Galactic and Sky News Arabia. He is also the owner of the privately held Abu Dhabi United Group, a specialist investment company that successfully acquired Manchester City Football Club in September 2008, and which has overseen a significant transformation at the Club since that time, most notably, the club won its first top flight champions trophy since 1968, which is also its first ever premier league trophy. On May 21, 2013, Major League Soccer of the United States announced that its second New York City Metropolitan Area club, to be called New York City FC, is planned to start play in the 2015 season, to be majority-owned by Mansour bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and the billionaire Guilherme Czernichovscki Von Oldenburg, partnering with the New York Yankees Major League Baseball organization.

In 2010, Ahmed continued his outstanding performance, by leading UAE Olympic football team. to win the 2010 Under 23 Gulf Cup of Nations by scoring five goals in the tournament and win the top scorer, and for the first ever Football silver medal in UAE history at the Asian Games and scored three goals in it. Ahmad ibn Mājid

Ahmad ibn Mājid, was an Arab navigator and cartographer born in 1421 in Julphar, which is now known as Ras Al Khaimah. This city makes up one of the seven emirates of the United Arab Emirates, but at that time it was classified as the coast of Oman. He was raised with a family famous for seafaring; at the age of 17 he was able to navigate ships. He was so famous that he was known as the first Arab seaman. The exact date is not known, but ibn Majid probably died in 1500. He became famous in the West as the navigator who helped Vasco da Gama find his way from Africa to India, however, the leading scholar on the subject, G.R. Tibbetts, disputes this claim. Ibn Majid was the author of nearly forty works of poetry and prose.

In a rallying career spanning three decades, he became the most successful Arab driver in motor sport history with 14 FIA Middle East Championship titles, and established himself as a sporting ambassador for the region. In 2008, he became the first Arab named as Vice President of the FIA, and the first to be elected to the FIA World Motor Sport Council. In his FIA role he has pioneered teaching, research and knowledge transfer initiatives in motor sport. As President of the Automobile and Touring Club of the UAE since 2006, he has built the organisation into one of the world’s leading national motor sport and motoring authorities, with acknowledged expertise in associated training, research and education. In June 2013 he was appointed as chairman of the new Motor Sport Development Task Force set up by the FIA to build a ten-year plan for the sport’s global development.

Marwan Yousef Mohamed Rashid Lekrab al-Shehhi was the hijacker-pilot of United Airlines Flight 175, crashing the plane into the South Tower of the World Trade Center as part of the September 11 attacks. al-Shehhi was a student from the United Arab Emirates who moved to Germany in 1996 and soon became close friends with Mohamed Atta, Ziad Jarrah and Ramzi bin al-Shibh, forming the Hamburg cell. Together, after pledging their lives to martyrdom, they became the leaders of the September 11 attacks. In late 1999, al-Shehhi, Atta, Jarrah, and bin al-Shibh traveled to terrorist training camps in Afghanistan and met with Osama bin Laden who recruited the four Hamburg cell members for the attacks in the United States. al-Shehhi arrived in the United States in May 2000, one month before Atta. They both trained in Florida at Huffman Aviation, receiving their commercial pilot licenses in December 2000 from the FAA. al-Shehhi spent 2001 making preparations for the attack itself, such as meeting with crucial September 11 planners abroad, assisting with the arrival of hijackers aboard the other flights, and travelling on surveillance flights determining details on how the hijacking would take place.

The Serbian youngster started swimming when he was barely six, but that was more for fitness. However, by the time he was 12 his path crossed with that of coach Chris Tidey, who had relocated to Dubai from Cambridge. After a brief six-month training regimen under Tidey, Stjepanović won his first medal, a bronze, at a competition in England. He also studied in one of GEMS schools. "Chris convinced me that I could be a really good swimmer and that's where my career took off as I started believing in myself and what I could achieve," Stjepanović said.

Saqr bin Mohammad Al Qassimi

Sheikh Saqr bin Muhammad Al Qasimi was the Emir of Ras Al Khaimah, a sheikhdom of the Persian Gulf and member of the United Arab Emirates, from 1948 to 2010. He became the Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah on 17 July 1948, when he overthrew his uncle and father-in-law Sheikh Sultan bin Salim Al Qasimi in a bloodless coup d'etat. Saqr exiled Sultan to Sharjah. Under his rule, Ras Al Khaimah joined the United Arab Emirates in 1972. At the time of his death in 2010, he was the world's oldest reigning monarch at age ~90.

Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid al-Nuaimi, succeeded his father Shaikh Rashid and became the emir of Ajmān in 1981 and he is the current emir of Ajmān. He received his early education in Dubai in the 1940s and 1950s and later went to Cairo for further studies. Educated in the UAE and United Kingdom, he is the Managing Director of the Crescent Group, President of Crescent Petroleum, the Crescent Group’s petroleum division; and Chief Executive Officer of Crescent Enterprises, the Crescent Group conglomerate's non-energy division. He is also the Chairperson of Gas Cities – a joint venture between Crescent Petroleum and Dana Gas; a member of the International Advisory Board of Dana Gas PJSC, the Gulf region's first and largest listed private sector natural gas company; Chairperson of Pearl Petroleum – a joint venture between Crescent Petroleum, Dana Gas, OMV, and MOL Group; and Vice-Chairperson of Gulftainer Group. Jafar serves as a board member to Gama Aviation, Enshaa, The Abraaj Group, and GrowthGate Capital. Jafar is a recipient of the Young CEO award in 2009 and the Middle East's Energy CEO of the year award in 2010. In September 2010, Jafar launched the Pearl Initiative at the United Nations headquarters in New York, an initiative in collaboration with the United Nations Office for Partnerships to jointly promote corporate governance, accountability, transparency, and good corporate social responsibility practices within the Middle East.
